Chimney leaks and lead flashing
Why chimneys are a common source of leaks and what good leadwork looks like.
Where chimneys leak
The joint between the chimney and roof is protected by lead flashing. If the lead has split, lifted or the mortar holding it has failed, water gets in.
Doing it properly
Good leadwork is cut, dressed and fixed correctly so it can move with the building. It is detail work, and worth getting right.
